We began the final Parkhead Heritage Trail urban sketching tour by loosening up with some fun warm up sketches – blind drawings of the buildings nearby and abstract line drawings.
Afterwards we walked from Parkhead Cross to the Necropolis where we had the first demo looking out of the main gates to the Forge shopping centre, and folk worked on monochrome sketches nearby from trees and gravestones, and foliage, capturing the sunlight and shadow and varied textures.
We then went on to a colour study with pens, moving up the hill for a vista into the windiest spot for some really invigorating drawing! The tea and cake afterwards was very well deserved.
